SAN DIEGO – The San Diego County Board of Supervisors today unanimously approved a recommendation from Fifth District Supervisor Bill Horn to partner with the North San Diego Association of Realtors (NSDCAR). The County of San Diego will provide the association with copies of the Family Disaster Plan and Personal Survival Guide to hand out to all new home buyers.
“The North San Diego County Association of Realtors represents nearly 7,000 realtors,” said Supervisor Horn. “They have access to thousands of home buyers in North County, and I appreciate their willingness to help the County spread the word on safety precautions.”
Today’s action creates an information sharing partnership with NSDCAR, giving them 5,000 copies of the plan and survival guide to distribute to all new home buyers. It also provides access to the emergency guide for future needs.
“In 2006, as Chairman, after I called for a Disaster Preparedness Guide to be created, we were able to distribute the education tool to every home and business in the County,” said Horn. “People used it to prepare themselves and that paid off following the October 2007 Wildfires. I commend NSDCAR’s willingness to help new home buyers be more prepared for disasters. This is a continuation of our vigilance and I appreciate the NSDCAR’s commitment to North County.”
