Vice Chairman Bill Horn honored as “Partner of the Year” by Full Access & Coordinated Transportation (FACT)
SAN DIEGO - Vice Chairman and Fifth District County Supervisor Bill Horn received the 2010 Norine Sigafoose Partner of the Year Award from the Board of Directors of Full Access & Coordinated Transportation (FACT). The award recognizes individuals who have made a significant difference in support of FACT’s mission to provide transportation solutions for persons with disabilities, seniors and other populations with unmet transportation needs in San Diego County.
The presentation was made at today’s meeting of the Board of Supervisors. Phil Monroe, FACT Board Chair, and former Coronado City Councilmember, and Arun Prem, FACT Executive Director made the presentation. Mr. Monroe praised Supervisor Horn for his foresight in recognizing FACT’s potential to meet the needs of transportation disadvantaged individuals. Arun Prem thanked the Supervisor and his staff for the ongoing support. He added, “I don’t see this Award as the culmination of our relationship with Supervisor Horn and the County; I see this as a beginning and look forward to working with Supervisor Horn to meet the transportation needs of constituents.”

City Councilmember whose disability never interfered with her
FACT was formed in 2005, when a group of community activists with a common desire to make a change in San Diego County’s transportation system joined forces. They came from North County Transit District, Area Board 13, State Council on Developmental Disabilities, San Diego Center for the Blind, North County, San Diego Association of Governments, and Aging and Independent Services, County of San Diego. In 2006 SANDAG designated FACT as the agency to coordinate transportation services in the County. The vision for FACT is all people living in San Diego County will have full mobility within their community by an accessible transportation system that meets their individual needs. The FACT Board meets at Encinitas City Hall on the 2nd Wednesdays of the month. The December 8, 2010 meeting begins at 9am, and the agenda includes the Partner of the Year Award.
