While all the Major Leaguers are preparing for another 162-game season in Spring Training, I was honored to receive a plaque for continued involvement and service from our own local spring training facility: Fallbrook Youth Baseball.
Over the years, it has been a pleasure to attend Opening Ceremonies and when Fallbrook Youth Baseball needed a new announcer’s booth and pitcher’s mound for their PONY field, I was happy to encourage the Board of Supervisors to supply the funds.
I enjoy baseball in part because it’s “America’s Pastime.” I encourage the support of youth baseball because it keeps kids active, healthy, gives them a passion, and keeps them away from so many of life’s negative influences.
Join me in wishing Fallbrook Youth Baseball and youth baseball programs throughout San Diego County best of luck in the upcoming 2014 season! May many of you reach your dreams of one day playing 162 games per year!
