NORTH COUNTY BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS RECEIVE MAJOR BOOST FROM SUPERVISOR HORN
SAN DIEGO – Six North County Boys & Girls Clubs will receive
grants from Fifth District Supervisor Bill Horn totaling $70,000 for
capital improvements, programs, and fund-raising events.
“For decades, our North County Boys & Girls Clubs have had a
tremendous impact in keeping young people from the destructive
influences of gangs and drugs,” said Supervisor Horn. “It’s critical
that we help them provide positive and fun environments for at-risk
children and teens. These discretionary Community Projects grants are
an excellent investment in the lives of kids.”
The grants are as follows:
$10,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of Vista to partially
cover costs associated with purchasing an air conditioning unit and
removal of ceiling materials
$10,000 to Boys & Girls
Club of San Marcos to purchase equipment and supplies for their new
$10,000 to Boys & Girls Club of Oceanside
to help cover the costs of renovating their gymnasium floor
$10,000 to Boys & Girls Club of Carlsbad to pay for
educational and promotional materials associated with their
Gangbusters and Keystone programs
$20,000 to Boys &
Girls Club of Greater San Diego for educational and promotional
materials for the Junior Leaders programs of clubs in Borrego
Springs and Valley Center
$10,000 to Boys & Girls Club
of North County to pay for costs of hosting their annual Auction and
Dinner event to be held May 31, 2008
The grants are contingent on the clubs first raising matching funds.
