A PROCLAMATION Presented by Vice Chairman Bill Horn
WHEREAS, April 13-19, 2014, is National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, a time when the unsung heroes in the public safety telecommunications area of law enforcement are recognized and appreciated; and
WHEREAS, the San Diego County's Sheriff’s dispatchers are committed men and women who answer over 620,000 calls for law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services each year; and
WHEREAS, these exceptional individuals work under stressful conditions, often dealing with life‑threatening situations and distressed residents; and
WHEREAS, despite the their extremely stressful work environment, they can be counted on to think clearly, make sound decisions and send help to people in need of emergency services; and
WHEREAS, the contributions that these men and woman make to the citizens and communities of San Diego County are deserving of recognition and praise; and
WHEREAS, the County of San Diego is committed to honoring those individuals who are dedicated to the best ideals of public service and our Sheriff’s 9-1-1 dispatchers are one such worthy group contributions that these men and women make to the citizens and communities of San Diego County are deserving of recognition and praise; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT PROCLAIMED by Chairwoman Dianne Jacob and all members of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors on this 15th day of April 2014, that they commend SAN DIEGO COUNTY SHERIFF’S DISPATCHERS for outstanding service and commitment to the San Diego County communityregion, and do hereby declare the week of April 13-19, 2014 to be "SHERIFF’S 9-1-1 DISPATCHERS APPRECIATION WEEK" throughout San Diego County.
