SAN DIEGO –The San Diego County Board of Supervisors today unanimously approved a recommendation by Fifth District Supervisor Bill Horn for a major construction project of pathways and landscaping in Valley Center.

“Heritage Trails is a great example of private citizens working with the County of San Diego to beautify and bring significant improvements for Valley Center,” said Horn. “I’m especially grateful to Nancy Layne of the Valley Center Town Council and generous donations from the Valley Center community and the Rincon Tribe of Indians.”

The trails will allow walking and horseback riding along the west and north sides of Valley Center Road between Woods Valley Road and Cole Grade Road. Supervisor Horn designated $280,000 from his discretionary Community Projects budget to the County Department of Public Works to complete the $920,000 project. The community has been closely involved in the planning and design of the project, and working with the Rincon Tribe, secured $640,000 in funding.

Construction for Heritage Trails is expected to begin in fall 2009.
