A WORD FROM SUPERVISOR BILL HORN

SUPERVISOR 5TH DISTRICT COUNTY OF SAN DIEGO

Special Election Alert

January 16, 2009

With the State of California struggling with its $42 billion budget shortfall, there is a possibility Governor Schwarzenegger and state lawmakers will call a special election sometime during the next few months.

Since early voters turned out in record numbers to cast their ballots in last November’s presidential election, now is a good time to update your registration. Getting your ballot by mail is convenient and allows you to take your time filling out the ballot.

To apply for a mail ballot, download an application form from the Registrar of Voters’ Web site at www.sdvote.com, or contact the Registrar’s office at 858 565-5800. I urge all residents to make sure you are able to vote in the next election by registering to vote. You need to complete a registration form if you are not currently registered, have recently moved or changed your name.

You can get forms and check your registration status at www.sdvote.com. Registration forms are also available at the Registrar of Voters office at 5201 Ruffin Road, Suite I, San Diego, CA 92123, all U.S. Post Offices, public libraries, and the Department of Motor Vehicles offices.
